Astoria Line

Astoria hides have a warm appearance and will burnish over time and with use. Astoria hides are hand selected domestic raw material. These full grain hides are tanned using a specific oil tanning process. Astoria hides are dyed for color and then undergoes a unique oiling process that impregnates the oils into the body of the leather. This process is referred to as "wet stuffing ". Unlike surface oiling process the "wet stuffing" process ensures that the leather will retain the oil over the life of the leather. Astoria hides have a soft supple feel that will only improve with age and use. Astoria hides are further enhanced by the thickness (1.6-1.8 mm) which gives the leather a rich warm appearance. Natural markings such as healed scars, scratches, neck and belly wrinkles should be expected throughout the leather. Astoria may also be referred to as a pull-up leather. The term pull-up means that the leather color will lighten as the leather is upholstered in a tight application. Astoria will scratch as it is used, but these areas are easily rubbed away with natural body oils. Astoria hides will fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight. Astoria hides average 50 square feet.
